On those rare occasions when the planets align, less conventional images of steam locomotives can expose the soul of the beast in a way that normal images can't. Some might call this 'art'. And you certainly won't do as well at that moment in time with a diesel. Trust us on that!
This year's calendar focuses on images where non-standard lighting, steam effects & atmosphere rule. Not always the best way to count the rivets, this walk on the dark side can still gladden the heart. Whether these particular images are 'art' is hard to say. 'Art' could easily have been standing on the opposite side of the tracks on the days in question.
